Day 82-Check Your Head

Text neck. Hump.

You know what it is.

You don't have to be a habitual text message sender to do it.

Television, computer, driving, iPad.

Poor posture habits.

Yikes.

I see three skeletons that are functioning out of alignment. When a car is out of alignment, the tires change shape.

When your skeleton is out of alignment, your blood vessels and arteries change shape. There are bends where there should be no bends, and the geometry of the little tubes that carry blood and lymph change.

When there is a bend where there shouldn't be, that's when plaque begins to build up.

Did you know that these poor alignment habits can cause arteriosclerosis?

Arteriosclerosis is the build up of a waxy plaque on the inside of blood vessels. In Greek, athere means gruel, and skleros means hard. Arteriosclerosis (from the Greek arteria, meaning artery) is a general term for hardening of the arteries.

Yikes. Again.

Why did our ancestors eat meat yet not drop dead willy-nilly from heart attacks caused by plaque build-up?

Perhaps, they were moving naturally, walking a lot and not bent over ye olde iPad?

Hmmmm,
Dani
